The basic pattern of the dress sabretache worn by officers of the King’s Dragoon Guards was similar to the one introduced in 1821. The design has been established so that the oak-leaf wreath fits well within the gold lace border. The Fine or Basket Check and Vellum pattern lace remained in use from 1821 until dress sabretaches were discontinued c1855 when the uniform was radically changed. The VR cypher replaced the WR cypher in 1837 but the Guelphic crown was unchanged, and the WATERLOO battle honour was lowered to be placed on the wreath.
