King's Dragoon Guards

Undress Sabretache 1833

Mansion and St Eschauzier produced their Upright series published by Spooner between 1833 and 1836. This detail is taken from no.45, the first state; 1st (or the King’s) DG Marching Order. The other dragoon guard regiments are shown in review order with dress sabretaches. The undress sabretache of the KDG was distinctive and may have been the deciding factor in the choice of marching order. The large garter star with crown above, fills the space. The centre has KDG in a serif typeface, and the WATERLOO battle honour is below the garter.
