There was no Corps of Drums in the cavalry in the way that there was in infantry regiments, however, the musicians were accompanied by a time-beater who had a large bass drum, and a boy drummer with a snare drum. The time-beater is a lance-corporal, wearing dress uniform with a rank stripe on his upper right arm, and a good conduct stripe on his left forearm. There are eagle badges on his collar but his rank does not allow him to have an eagle arm badge, only corporals and above were entitled to the arm badge. There are no sword slings attached to his waist-belt, although other band musicians did have slings. He is also exempt from wearing a pouch-belt. He does not wear an apron like most other bass drummers. The snare drummer wears a stable jacket which is scarlet with blue collar and cuffs, the latter piped with yellow and having a trefoil at the point.
