This detail of an officer’s dress uniform shows the belt plate in place, fastening the gold-laced leather waist-belt. The VR cypher has Victoria’s crown above and a scroll inscribed DIEU ET MON DROIT with an oak-leaf wreath either side. The gilt buttons above and below the plate have the garter star with Victorian crown and K D G in gothic script in the centre.
