The leather stirrup straps were ornamented with this regimental pattern slide or runner. The badge on the front is of great interest because it has a Victorian crown over the star. It shows that the badge was used in the 19th century before Franz Josef’s connection to the regiment. The same design was used after 1902, but with King’s crowns, and worn on caps and collars by the KDG from 1915, after the double-headed eagle badge was discontinued. Other ranks had plainer brass slides, but also having K D G on the front.
