Other ranks of the King’s Dragoon Guards wore this pattern of waist-belt plate at Waterloo. It is brass and indented with a crowned star and garter design that was the badge of the regiment for most of the 19th century. Whereas officer’s had a non-regimental dragoon guard belt-plate, this specimen has KDG in the centre where it would be expected to find the GR cypher of George III.
