NCO Arm Badge 1930

Sergeants and Corporals wore this final pattern of regimental arm badge from 1930. Previous to this they had worn the bimetal star and garter badge which replaced the Austrian Eagle in 1915. This KDG monogram was not a new design; it had originated in the 19th century but with Victoria’s crown. An embroidered version was worn on officers’ field service caps prior to the Austrian eagle badge. The monogram was also used on the officer’s charger’s ear bosses. It was worn with red backing in all orders of dress but not by lance corporals.
