The universal plate on the front of the 1812 heavy cavalry helmet had a small plaque below the royal cypher with the title of the regiment. This one reads ‘1st OR’ on the first line, ‘KINGS DRAGOON’ on the second line, and ‘GUARDS’ beneath.
