This unnamed officer has a similar uniform to the previous portrait but one of his gauntlets has been removed so that we can see the single embroidered button loop on his left cuff. The full length portrait also shows the position of the dress sabretache. The slings are very long causing the sabretache to reach the officer’s ankles. This would be a questionable aspect of the portrait except for the fact that other portraits confirm this. It may have been a distinction of the King’s Dragoon Guards but it seems that it would have been very difficult to walk or ride with such a free swinging encumbrance.
The other point of interest to this portrait is the undress forage cap on the table instead of the dress helmet. It is blue with gold cap-band and gold braiding on the top, and a gold embroidered peak. An enlarged detail of the painting suggests that the braiding on the top of the cap is in the shape of a star.
