This unnamed officer posed for his portrait in dress uniform with the 1834 pattern gilt helmet behind him, with black fur crest attached. The coat is very tight-fitting, especially on the sleeves. The embroidered loops on his forearms are exposed as he has removed his gauntlets. The high collar looks also very tight and uncomfortable, being closed at the front with hooks and eyes. Other portraits of officers of the King’s Dragoon Guards show the dress sabretache as hanging very low, and indeed there is no sign of the sabretache although the gold lace slings are there. His sword has a white leather sword knot with a gold tassel which agrees with dress regulations.
