Left: Major Pomeroy Holland-Pryor, 13th Duke of Connaught’s Lancers (Watson’s Horse). He wears a turban and a blue kurta with scarlet collar and cuffs (the cuffs concealed by white leather gauntlets). The lace on his collar, cuffs, and belts is silver.
Second from left: Risaldar-Major Hawant Singh, 3rd Skinner’s Horse. His uniform is a blue kurta with yellow facings and gold lace. His medals appear to include the Khedive’s Star for service in Egypt in 1882.
Third from left: Subadar-Major Rekha Ram, 6th Jat Light Infantry. He wears a scarlet tunic with white facings and gold lace. An officer’s crimson silk sash is worn around the waist, with tassels hanging on the left side. His sword is suspended from slings attached to a webbing belt worn beneath his tunic.
Fourth from left: Risaldar Mangal Singh OBI, 16th Cavalry. Prior to 1903 this regiment was titled the 16th Bengal Lancers. It was raised in 1857 as the Rohilkhand Horse. His turban is mostly blue, and he wears a blue kurta with blue collar and cuffs. The kummerband beneath his gold-laced waist-belt is red. He has the decoration for the Order of British India at his neck.
Right: Subadar-Major Prem Singh IOM, OBI, 32nd Sikh Pioneers. His uniform is topped by a very full red turban with a regimental badge on the front. His tunic is scarlet with blue facings and gold lace. The pioneer badge of crossed axes can be seen on his blue collar. The Indian Order of Merit decoration is at his neck, with the Order of British India below.
