It is difficult to date this worn-out Regimental Colour, as the battle honours for the two world wars were sewn onto the King’s Colour, but it is pre-1930 when the regimental badge formed the central device. The last battle honours on this flag are for the Boer War. It is very similar to the 1903 Colour on the cigarette card but there are two extra honours which were awarded retrospectively in 1909; these were GIBRALTAR 1704-5 and MARTINIQUE 1794. The rest of the Colour corresponds with the 1903 version, including the Rose below the Union wreath which is only on the 1st Battalion Colour.
