This example of a sergeant’s dress tunic is in mint condition as it was never worn. Some of the buttons are still covered in tissue paper. The gold lace stripes, on the right arm only, have become dulled. The brass buttons have also dulled but the collar badges and shoulder titles are still reasonably bright indicating that they are made of a gilding metal. The quality of the tailoring is very good and there are fine details like the false pockets on the back skirts and the shoulder straps that are white on top and red underneath. The inside of the collar has black cloth and it is worrying to see the rather painful-looking split pin holding the collar badge. The top part of the tunic is lined but the skirt is not. The buttons have the Royal Arms which was universal for all rank-and-file uniforms. Only officers had regimental pattern buttons.
