The Troop shown in this detail are not named but this coloured aquatint, by Richard Livesay, depicts a review of the Newport Volunteers on 29 July 1798. The inspection was carried out by Sr William Pitt KB. The Troop has around 30 men dressed in red jackets and light dragoon helmets. The nearest mounted figure, the officer, has a white shabraque whereas the men have none. In PW Reynold’s notes he comments on the print and says that the red jackets have yellow braid. The town of Newport is in the background, on the other side of the River Medina.
