The regimental band marches on foot in an unknown location. The photo is out of focus but there are some details that can be seen. The man nearest the camera with a large wind instrument looks like a trumpet-major, with four inverted chevrons on his right forearm and a crossed trumpets badge. The Austrian knot on his cuff appears to be in gold cord rather than yellow. There are other bandsmen who have badges on their upper arm. They should all have a band badge but some have no badge and others have what may be a crossed trumpets badge indicating that they are trumpeters doubling as bandsmen. The man at the back is carrying a time-beater’s large drum. These musicians all have white pouch-belts but a senior NCO marches alongside with no pouch-belt as these were discontinued in 1902.
