The man in this photo wears the uniform developed by the Imperial Yeomanry in the Boer War but retained for a few years after for manoeuvres. The khaki uniform has button down pleated breast pockets but no button for the hip pockets. The collar is also plain khaki but the khaki shoulder straps have brass titles HANTS CARABINIERS. There is also a blue cloth title at the top of the sleeve with H I Y in white letters. The lighter coloured slouch hat has a badge on the side that is indistinct in this overexposed photo.
