It is half covered by a haversack, with a water-bottle above that. Hanging below the saddle are a coiled tethering rope and a bag of horse feed. The front of the saddle has spare shoes and a greatcoat strapped over leather wallets. A blanket and other equipment is strapped behind the saddle. This could be a photo of any yeoman but the style of white plaited head-rope indicates that this is a man in either the 41st or 50th (Hampshire Carabiniers) Company IY.
