This group, posing with a Sergeant Trumpeter of the Life Guards, are dressed either in review order or stable dress. The sergeant seated in the middle wears a plain stable jacket which has pointed, laced cuffs without any braid. His shako has no plume and no cap-lines. The lance-corporal at the back is also in stable dress but he has kept his cap-lines on. The sergeant standing at the back has a pouch-belt that also clips onto his carbine. We can just see the spring clip on his right hip. The seated sergeant also has a carbine spring clip hanging from his pouch-belt. He appears to have a little more braiding on his cuffs than the private seated on the right of the picture. The rank chevrons are broad and too bright to be gold lace like the Life Guards Trumpeter. They are either white or silver lace, probably the latter. The dress jacket is the early pattern with small figure 8s in the middle of the cord frogging, and no caps on the drops at the end of the braid.
