Sedu Ram held the post of Subadar-Major for five years, from 1 Jan 1933 to 31 Dec 1937. He fought in Mesopotamia as a Havaldar during WW1, reaching the rank of Jemadar and being mentioned in despatches for gallantry and good service. He also served in Waziristan in 1919. During his tenure as Subadar-Major the regiment was posted to the Khyber Pass for two years and then stationed at Aurangabad. He was promoted to the rank of Honorary Lieutenant, and was Bahadur. He was also decorated with the Order of British India.
