The stringed bugle was the symbol for Rifle and Light Infantry Regiments. Before 1903 the regiment was titled 4th Bombay Rifles and had IV inside the strings. After 1903 they were renumbered 104th. After World War One the regiment was amalgamated with other Rifle regiments to become the 6th Rajputana Rifles. This black version was worn on khaki service pagris up until 1922, while a silver version was worn on the dark green pagris.
