Charles Gordon Monro was born in Sept 1872, educated at Harrow and entered the 2nd Battalion Gordon Highlanders in June 1892 as a second Lieutenant. 'He was promoted in August 1896 and served in India and South Africa. 'The Battalion fought at Elandslaagte on 21st Oct 1899 where Monro, along with 3 other officers of the Gordons were killed.
