
The Army, consisting of 26,000 British, 28,000 French and 7,000 Turkish troops, marched south towards Sevastopol, fighting a battle at the Alma on 20th Sept. The British established a naval base at Balaklava by 26th September, enabling them to bring in supplies for the army. The Battle of Balaclava took place on 25th October and Inkerman on 5th November.
