Drummer 1815

Drummers in this period did not wear the grenadier's fur cap. All companies wore the Waterloo shako and that included the drummers and fifers. This is a French print entitled Soldats de l'Armee Anglaise and mostly the uniforms are not accurate but the Tambour, here closely resembles a drummer of the 1st Guards. The artist probably had access to an actual coat because the pattern of the lace seems about right. The shako has a Light Company plume and a bugle horn badge but the cord is white and should be green like the plume.
