John Kilvert was a 21 yr old corporal when he charged with the Light Brigade at Balaklava. He was wounded but survived to enjoy promotion up to Troop Sergeant-Major before he left the army in 1861. He went on to become Mayor of Wednesbury in 1905-6. He died in October 1920.
