The facing colour chosen for the 5th Mahrattas was black which was the colour for the 103rd, 105th and 110th (1st, 2nd and 3rd battalions). The 116th, 117th and 114th ( 4th, 5th and 10th battalions) had yellow facings before the amalgamation but now had to adopt the new colour.
