The Frontier Light Horse was one of the more prominent cavalry units of the Anglo-Zulu War. The men's distinctive uniform was sand coloured with black braid. They fought with great bravery on 28th March at Hlobane and the descent of Devil's Pass with Redvers Buller. During the action of 3rd July 1879 Captain Cecil D'Arcy and Sergeant Edmund O'Toole won the VC.
