The gun batteries established on the Delhi ridge came under attack from a rebel sortie from the city. This coloured lithograph is one of a series produced by William Simpson, E Walker and others, from the drawings made by Captain G F Atkinson. The men defending the battery in this print could be men of the 9th Lancers armed with muskets and bayonets, commanded by Lieutenant Bell-Martin.
