The 9th Lancers changed to an all-gilt pouch-belt c1843 which included not only the distinctive gold lace, but the gilt pouch and the gilt ornaments on the belt. Whereas the other lancer regiments had the usual plain silver pickers, boss and chains, the 9th had a garter star boss inscribed with HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE.
