The gold lace pattern chosen by the 9th Lancers c1843 replaced the Herringbone Light Dragoon pattern worn since 1812. While the other lancer regiments continued to wear the former pattern, the 9th changed to the all-gold Wave and Diamond or Double Wave pattern. The pattern shows clearly in this photo of the end of the belt that has the buckle, tip and slide. The belt itself was red morocco leather which showed as a red edge to the gold lace. This photo also shows the red leather pouch, normally hidden beneath the gilt face of the pouch.
