The monogram of Queen Adelaide was adopted by the 9th Lancers in 1830 to be displayed on their buttons and appointments. This black and white photo shows the undress sabretache that has a gilt Hanoverian crown over the reversed A R cypher, also in gilt, and decorated with foliate designs. It could have been worn by officers in undress from c1830 up to c 1854 when sabretaches were discontinued for lancers.
