Both men are in dismounted stable dress, the Troop Sergeant Major has his three rank stripes and crown on his right arm, and he has gold lace on his collar and cuffs, as well as gold shoulder cords and gold laced and braided cap. The trumpeter wears the same uniform as the rest of the regiment, blue stable jacket with plain red collar and cuffs, yellow shoulder cords and brass buttons down the front. He has the same pattern pill-box forage cap as the rest of the regiment; blue with red cap band and braid across the top, and a brass central button. Both men have double yellow stripes down the side of their trousers. The trumpeter’s distinction is an embroidered badge on his right arm; crossed trumpets on red backing.
