The campaign dress for service during the Indian Mutiny was either depicted as all white for summer dress or blue stable jackets as depicted in this painting by Orlando Norie. Another source, based on an eye witness in December 1858, depicted the 9th Lancers wearing blue stable jackets, faced red, as seen here, but with white trousers. The caps worn by other ranks did not have peaks . These trumpeters ride grey horses and do not carry lances.
