Officers of the 8th Bengal Light Cavalry wore this pattern of sabretache after 1853 when the battle honours for the 2nd Sikh War were granted. The regiment had these seven battle honours proudly displayed, especially PUNNIAR and MAHARAJPORE which were fought on the same day, 29 Dec 1843. There were squadrons of the regiment at both battles. The sabretache is on blue cloth with silver herringbone train lace on three sides, and silver embroidery. The battle honours are on scrolls of crimson velvet.
