The 6th Bengal Native Cavalry, on the left of the picture, can be seen charging into the Maharatta mass. The British officers are depicted wearing helmets with red manes although these were supposed to have been put aside and replaced by shakos. The Indian troopers have tall blue hats with a diagonal white lace. One man has a red hat and carries the guidon. He is a junior Indian officer with the rank of jemadar. One sowar lies by his horse in the foreground. The Maharatta cavalry is on the point of turning to flee while the elephants are already turned.
