The brass badge worn on the turban (see Sepoy by Simkin, 1901. The top scroll reads ‘Delhi’, the tri-part scroll reads ‘Relief Lucknow Capture’ and the lower scroll has the motto ‘Aut viam inventiam aut faciam’.
