This photo was taken c1897 by Frederick Bremner. It shows different ranks of the regiment, all of them Mazbi Sikhs. On the left is the Subadar-Major in review order, wearing a scarlet tunic with blue facings and pioneer badges on the gold-laced collar. His red turban, or pagri, has the older version of the regimental badge. His medals include the Order of Merit. The others would be the Afghanistan Medal 1878-80 (green with crimson edges riband) and the India Medal 1895-1902 (crimson and green striped riband). The latter medal should have a clasp for RELIEF OF CHITRAL 1895. He is armed with a sword slung from a leather waist-belt.
Next to him is a Havildar with three chevron stripes on his right arm. He is wearing khaki service dress, in marching order. The other two are sepoys also in khaki service dress, in marching order. They carry an assortment of tools in various ways, and are armed with outdated Martini-Henry rifles.
