Orlando Norie’s composite painting of Indian troops sent to Egypt in 1882 featured these two mounted figures in action. They are an officer and trooper of the 2nd Bengal Cavalry. They wear green alkalaks and red lungis, the officer having gold lace. The trooper, or sowar, is armed with a cavalry carbine.
