The Bolan Pass 1839

The army reached Dadur, the entrance to the Bolan Pass on 10 March 1839 and was delayed there because of the desertion of many of their syces and dooly bearers, ‘On the 15th, the force entered this most formidable pass, my regiment forming a portion of the advance…on the 17th we entered a narrow defile; on one side flowed a rapid river and on the other rose precipitous mountains.’
