These rough drawings by C C P Lawson are taken from his book A History of The Uniforms of the British Army vol 1 (1940). In the Bibliothèque Nationale, Paris, the MS book Les Triomphes du Roy Louis le Grand contains coloured drawings of Colours and Standards captured by the French armies, together with the name and year of the action in which they were taken. These two Colours were captured at Landen, or Neerwinden on 29 July 1693.
Referring to the left-hand drawing, Lawson says: Two white Colours and one blue with thistle surrounded by a circle of RRs (Royal Regiment) and WM cyphers (William & Mary) and the motto NEMO ME IMPUNE LACESSIT [spelt LACESSET on the drawing]. Referring to the right-hand drawing, he says: One white Colour, crown in centre surrounded by RRs and WMs and motto as above, thistle on the borders, the whole design in gold.
