Officer’s Button 1860

In 1860 the gilt button was changed to this design to be worn on officers’ tunics which had been introduced 5 years earlier. The figure of St Andrew and his cross are superimposed on an eight-pointed star. This is the pendant that hangs from the collar of the Order of the Thistle. Beneath this device is THE ROYAL REGT.
