Officer’s Forage Cap Badge 1852

The officers’ undress forage cap had this elaborate badge in 1852. The silver Star of St Andrew had a gilt centre with the collar of the Order surrounded by an oval strap inscribed with the regimental title and motto. In the centre is the VR cypher of Queen Victoria and her crown, on blue enamel. The regimental history states that this was originally worn with a separate embroidered 1.
