Officer’s Shako Plate 1841

The Star of St Andrew dominated the design of this shako plate that was worn by officers of the Royal Regiment in the last three years of the bell-topped shako. The gilt figure of St Andrew is on a blue enamel centre with the regimental title below and placed on a chip-cut silver Star of St Andrew. It was all placed on the usual gilt star. In 1844 a different pattern was introduced to be worn on the Albert shako.
