The Royal Scots at this time had a full dress jacket that was decorated on the collar with two embroidered button loops and on the cuff with four shorter loops. The lapels were normally buttoned across but are here exposed at the top to reveal that there were no gold loops. The nine gilt buttons on either side are evenly spaced, not in pairs. The shoulders have embroidered wings, quite minimal, not chain linked or fringed.
