This illustration comes from a file on the Bengal Light Cavalry in the possession of W Y Carman. There is no indication that it is a shabraque ornament worn by British officers, but there is a good chance that it is. The circle, according to the notes, was surrounded by a wreath of thistle, shamrock and laurel in gold. The words ‘silver smooth’ apply to the lettering and designs on the circle.
