Roscoe Harvey’s rank insignia are clearly visible on the shoulder of his battledress, three pips and a crown for the rank of brigadier. He holds a board for his map and wears a spotted hanky round his neck. Behind him is his Sherman tank, concealed from aerial observation. This may well have been photographed around the time that he liberated Antwerp in the summer of 1944.
