Arthur Warde was born on 25 Nov 1787, the son of Charles Warde of Westerham, Kent. His mother was Anne Annesley of Bletchington, Oxfordshire. He was posted to the 3rd BNC in 1806 and promoted to lieutenant on 5 Dec 1807. He served in Bundelkhand in 1809, present at Rajaoli and Ajaigarh. He was appointed Adjutant from 29 May 1810 to 20 Nov 1818. He took part in the siege of Hathras in 1817 and in the Third Maharatta War he was at Jawad in 1818. He was promoted to captain in Jan 1819, going on leave until Jan 1822. He was in the operations in Jodhpur in 1823, fighting at Lamba. On 15 Dec 1825 he was given the command of the 5th Local Horse, until 1 Nov 1832. During that period of command he was promoted to major on 24 July 1828, and on 30 Dec 1833 he was promoted to lieutenant-colonel. He then went on furlough until 11 Dec 1835. He was appointed CO of the 1st BLC on 10 Sep 1834 and then the 10th BLC on 25 Nov 1834, then again to the 6th BLC on 31 Oct 1835 and the 3rd BLC on 26 Dec 1835. He went on leave to Mussoorie on 15 May 1838 and died at Landour on 12 Nov 1838.
He was married to Anne Denson from Ellesmere, Shropshire. They were married at Allahabad on 15 Sep 1816. Anne died in London on 20 June 1853, aged 53.
